The Auckland Aces, the men’s representative cricket team for the Auckland region, have a rich history dating back to 1873 with the formation of the Auckland Cricket Association. As founding participants in New Zealand’s domestic competitions, they’ve been a dominant force in the Plunket Shield since 1906–07 and have gone on to achieve success across all formats, including the Ford Trophy and Super Smash.

Rebranded as the “Auckland Aces” in the early 2000s, the team has consistently produced top international players such as Martin Guptill, Kyle Mills, Danny Morrison, Jeff Crowe, Mark Burgess, Lou Vincent, Mitchell McClenaghan, Matt Horne, Dipak Patel, Hedley Howarth, Adam Parore, Mark Chapman, Andre Adams, Lockie Ferguson, and Colin Munro, while maintaining a strong presence in New Zealand cricket through their home ground at Eden Park Outer Oval.

With a record 23 Plunket Shield titles and multiple one-day and T20 championships, the ACESare recognized not only for their winning tradition but also for their deep community roots and player development programs. They remain a vital part of Auckland’s sporting identity, inspiring the next generation of cricketers through grassroots engagement, youth development, and a fiercely loyal fan base that continues to support them season after season.
