The ACES head south to Dunedin for their Plunket Shield clash against the Otago Volts, starting tomorrow at University of Otago Oval. First ball is at 10:30 AM, with all the action live-streamed on NZ Cricket’s YouTube channel.
Coming off a hard-fought draw against Northern Districts, the ACES take plenty of positives into this match, none bigger than Cam Fletcher’s gritty and unbeaten 132*—an innings that anchored the team to safety. Cam leads a batting lineup brimming with potential, one that bats deep and has been building momentum in recent weeks. Sid Dixit and Lachlan Stackpole have been amongst the runs, and they’re joined by in-form newcomer Nathan Robinson, whose club performances have been outstanding—averaging over 40 in 17 innings, including six fifties and a century.
The ACES’ tail showed its mettle in the last match, with Adi Ashok (41 off 184) and Louis Delport (43 off 102) providing crucial support to Cam in grinding out the draw. Their ability to bat intelligently under pressure will be key once again. The squad also welcomes back Danru Ferns, who not only strengthens the bowling attack but is more than capable with the bat.
The challenge ahead won’t be easy, with the Volts riding high after a win against the Stags last week. The ACES will need to be at their best, combining grit and execution to leave Dunedin with the points.
