The ACES head to the Cello Basin Reserve tomorrow for their next Ford Trophy clash against the Wellington Firebirds, with the first ball at 10.30am. Sitting at the top of the table, the ACES have their sights set on securing a place in the Ford Trophy final in Dunedin on March 2nd, and tomorrow’s match presents another opportunity to build on their strong momentum.
The team comes into this match off the back of a well-rounded performance against Northern Districts, where they adapted to challenging batting conditions to claim a valuable win. Cam Fletcher led the way with a composed 66, holding the middle order together at a crucial time, while contributions throughout the batting lineup ensured a competitive total. The bowlers then capitalized on the conditions, with six different players chipping in to dismiss ND for 159 inside 43 overs—an effort that highlighted the depth and versatility of the attack.
Adding to the ACES' firepower for this match is the return of Finn Allen from franchise cricket, providing another dynamic option at the top of the order. Ben Lister also re-joins the squad after recovering from injury, further strengthening a bowling unit that has been in excellent form. With the finals in sight, the ACES will be looking to put in another disciplined performance and maintain their place at the top of the standings.
The game will be streamed live on NZ Cricket’s YouTube Channel.
