About the Role
Auckland Cricket recruits casual Smash Play Activator's for the cricket season. These part-time, seasonal roles are key positions for Auckland Cricket to stimulate the growth and physical development of children in primary schools through cricket based fun activities.
The roles are suited to people passionate about sport, who are enthusiastic and energetic working with young children
The expectation for this role is that the Activator's are ambassadors for Auckland Cricket, as such, deliver Smash Play sessions that are fun, fast and engaging for all involved.

Smash Play is a cricket program focused on providing quality experiences for all. With a focus on game play, values, participation, and enjoyment, every session has more hits, more catches, more action, and more fun.
Reports to: School Engagement Manager / Coach Development Manager
Type: Part-time fixed term
Start/End Date: Term 4, 2024 & Term 1, 2025 – some casual work may be available in the school holidays. Compulsory training to be held on 9th October, with school sessions beginning on 14th October.
Main responsibilities/Day-to-day tasks
- Use Smash Play to deliver structured, fun and engaging class-by-class skill sessions during school term four and term one in primary schools.
- Deliver BatFirst cricket sets to Year 3 students at Decile 1-5 schools involving a creative and play in-class session
- Help with delivering ACA tournaments and festivals
- Report weekly on the number of students taking part in your sessions
- Training, mentoring, and support will be provided before and during the season by the School Engagement Manager and the Coach Development Manager
- Uniform and equipment will be provided by ACA
Expectations
- You will be available to work 25-30 hours per week during Term 4 and Term 1
- All school awareness sessions will be run during school hours (9am-3pm), some days may finish earlier
- You will be expected to provide your own vehicle to travel to schools across the Auckland region
- You will be promoting cricket on behalf ACA and all their associated clubs, not just the one you play for
- For days you are working where you are not rostered to do school awareness, Batfirst, or an ACA tournament, you may be helping ACA staff at Eden Park
- More work may be available in the school holidays and prior to season start.
General
- Abide by all ACA staff protocols and procedures.
- Undertake other additional duties as may be required from time to time.
- Current driver license and reliable transport as regional travel will be required
- Police vetting will be completed as part of the recruitment process
