Auckland Cricket is seeking expressions of interest for the role of Ground Announcer at 2024/25 home matches.
 

About Auckland Cricket Association

Auckland Cricket is the largest Major Association in New Zealand and is charged with the responsibility of growing, developing, and promoting the game of cricket within Auckland, from elite level to grassroots. The organisation works collaboratively with a network of clubs and schools across the Auckland region, and New Zealand Cricket, to grow a love for the game and foster talent to create the next generation of Aces and Hearts on the domestic stage, along with Blackcaps and White Ferns on the international stage. The association, players and staff have a proud history of success, and this pivotal leadership role will drive  the associations ambition to be at the forefront for performance and talent cricket programmes in New Zealand. 


Role Summary

The successful applicant will be responsible for providing appropriate match announcements for Ford Trophy (50 over men) and Hallyburton Johnstone Shield (50 over women) matches at Kennards Hire Community Oval (Eden Park Outer Oval).

The announcing includes, but is not limited to, new batters to the crease, new bowlers, milestones, score updates and weather updates. The ground announcer is also responsible for DJing the event by controlling the mixer during appropriate breaks in the game.


Desired Skills and Experience

  • Experience with sports commentary and/or production either as a live announcer or with live broadcast
  • An understanding and enjoyment of cricket as a sport
  • At least partial knowledge of professional players in the domestic setup (team lists are provided)
  • The ability to multitask and improvise
  • Availability on weekends over summer
