Auckland Cricket continue to invest in the identification and development of our young cricketing talent, and are pleased to welcome Jonathan Bassett-Graham to the High-Performance team as the new Head of Talent and Pathway.

The Head of Talent and Pathway role is a vital component of Auckland Cricket’s high-performance eco-system, responsible for connecting the many parts of the cricket network to create a structure that accurately identifies and fosters talent.

The ultimate goal in the Talent and Pathway space is to help Auckland Cricket develop more BLACKCAPS and WHITE FERNS, as well as having successful ACES and HEARTS teams.

Bassett-Graham has spent the last few years working with Auckland Cricket’s age-group sides, the Men’s A team and helping out behind the scenes with the ACES. The 31-year old also led Suburbs New Lynn to the Hedley Howarth Trophy title in March 2021.

Chief Executive Iain Laxon is thrilled to welcome Bassett-Graham to the Auckland Cricket team.

“Jonny’s background gives him a great platform to build from as we start working with stakeholders on building a talent identification system that will provide long-term sustainable success.”

Bassett-Graham will play a key role in the transition from talent identification to talent development, leading the Auckland Cricket Academy.

“This appointment signals the start of an exciting stage of growth and development in our talent identification and development environments,” Laxon said.

Incoming Director of Performance and Talent Daniel Archer said “it is exciting to have Jonny joining the Performance and Talent team at Auckland Cricket.”

“This role is aimed at developing quality systems and processes around how we collaborate effectively right across Auckland.

“Jonny’s standing, experiences, and relationships across various components of cricket in our city will be a significant attribute to his success.

“This combined with his aligned philosophy to the direction of our Talent and Performance programmes has us all excited about the impact he can make at Auckland Cricket.”

Bassett-Graham officially starts as Head of Talent and Pathway on September 13.
