The Auckland Hearts will have a new leader at the helm for the upcoming season with the appointment of Nick White as Head Coach. White takes over from Dean Flyger after three years in the job.
White has transitioned up the age levels, having coached the Auckland Under 14s through to Under 19s, and most recently has been the Hearts Assistant Coach for the last two seasons. He was also appointed as the Assistant Coach for the NZ Women’s Development team that took on Australian Women Under 19s in Lincoln earlier this year.
Auckland Cricket Chief Executive, Iain Laxon was pleased to announce White’s appointment.
“Nick has been a vital part of the Hearts programme over the last two years, bringing a huge amount of expertise and passion to that environment. This new role makes the Hearts Head Coach into a full time position but also incorporates the management of talent identification pathways that Nick has been managing successfully for us for some years. We are really looking forward to how he can drive the Hearts and our pathways programme forward in this role.”
White said he was honoured to be offered the role and couldn’t wait to get started.
“It is an absolute privilege to lead a young, exciting, hard working Hearts squad. We will look to build on the impressive team culture that Dean has built over the past three seasons. The ability to continue that and develop the women’s game for the next two years is very exciting,” he said.
“I am thoroughly looking forward to not only continuing to work with the Hearts squad in developing their games, but also growing our development programmes as well.”
