This summer Hibiscus Coast and Kumeu will both play 50-Over cricket in the Premier grade.

Dean Bartlett, Auckland Cricket’s Community Cricket Manager, is thrilled to welcome Hibiscus Coast and Kumeu.

“As part of the Men’s Premier Strategy, we are excited to see Hibiscus Coast and Kumeu join the Premier Men’s One-Day Competition/s this season in addition to the T20 competition which both clubs have been a part of for the past four years.”

“The Strategy aims to fulfil the purpose of Premier Cricket and ensure that each player at our 16 clubs has access to the aspirational pathway and therefore Premier competitions growing the footprint of cricket within Auckland.”

With the addition of Kumeu and Hibiscus Coast, the Premier Men’s One-Day Competition has been restructured to have two tiers of eight teams competing in separate competitions.

“Auckland Cricket is delighted to announce that the new Premier Men’s One-Day Competition will be named after former ACES and BLACKCAPS batsman Richard Jones.

Jones played 190 matches (79 First Class, 88 List A and 23 T20) for Auckland during his 17-year career in blue and white. The former ACES captain also led the ACES to a State Shield / State T20 double in the 2006/07 season.

Both 50-over competitions will run through December and January with the winner earning promotion to the Jeff Crowe Cup for the 21/22 season.

The Premier Women’s competitions – Prichard Cup and Pearl Dawson Trophy – remain the same for 2020/21.

This Saturday 31st October, Opening Day sees the Premier Men’s teams don the whites for the start of the Two-Day Championships, while the Premier Women will begin with the 50-Over competition.
