Honda Financial Premiership Preview – 16 March

This weekend there’ll be a lot of eyes cast skyward after last week’s weather put paid to play in the Hedley Howarth and Tom Hellaby Championships, as well as the Prichard Cup.

Fortunately, this weekend’s forecast looks good.

In the Prichard Cup, it’s the last round before finals, and this week could be something of a preview.

Cornwall, clear at the top of the table, plays host to second-placed Takapuna. Both teams are missing two of their Hearts, playing with the NZ Development XI. Saachi Shahri and Bella Armstrong are out for Cornwall, while Lauren Down and Arlene Kelly will be absent from the Takapuna line-up.

Howick Pakuranga are facing Unitak at Lloyd Elsmore these are two teams currently sitting fourth and third respectively.

And fifth-place Parnell goes to play sixth-placed Papatoetoe. This is the match with the most impact on the final round placements – if Parnell can claim a win, they’ll move into fourth, no matter who wins between Unitak and Howick Pakuranga.

In the Premier Men’s competitions, after only one match got any play last week, there’ll be a number of 50-over inning restrictions ahead of the final round starting next week.
