Forced changes for ACES, Horne to captain

The Auckland ACES make several changes ahead of a trip to Napier to take on the Central Stags for Round 7 of the Plunket Shield.

Flynn McGregor-Sumpter and Jordan Sussex are both in line for First-Class debuts at McLean Park, while Ross ter Braak also returns to the squad.

Martin Guptill, Kyle Jamieson and George Worker are unavailable due to BLACKCAPS commitments, while skipper Robbie O’Donnell and Ben Lister join Mark Chapman on the isolation list.

In the skipper’s absence, Ben Horne will assume captaincy duties with the assistance of Will Somerville as vice-captain.

On the back of five Shield victories, the ACES sit atop the table with two matches to play.

After some confusion, with last week’s match between Northern Districts and the Central Stags officially wiped from the record, as opposed to a draw, the ACES still require one point to confirm a 24th Plunket Shield title.

Lockie Ferguson and Glenn Phillips will be unavailable for the remainder of the season as the pair participate in the IPL.
