Allen in-line for First-Class debut
The Auckland Aces have made two changes to their winning side to take on the Central Stags in Round Seven of the Plunket Shield starting on Friday.
Youngster Finn Allen is in-line to make his First-Class debut for the Aces after being selected in the squad for Friday’s match.
Danru Ferns also rejoins the squad with Michael Barry misses out.
Allen replaces Craig Cachopa in the squad, with the Aces full of confidence after comprehensively beating Northern Districts in Round Six.
“Finn is an amazing talent and we have full confidence in him to perform at the First-Class level if selected,” Aces Captain Michael Guptill-Bunce says.
“It was a strong win against ND, very pleasing,” he says.
“The boys toiled hard and transitioned well into four-day cricket. I was particularly pleased with the bowlers who stuck to the task and worked well as a group.”
The Stags sit second on the Plunket Shield ladder with the Aces just behind them on third, something Coach Mark O’Donnell is making his players aware of.
“This is a crucial game for us, win it and we put ourselves well and truly in the title race. Central are a good side with game breaking players throughout, we will need to be at our best,” O’Donnell says.
The Aces take on the Stags this Friday, first ball 10:30am.
