Aces under the pump against Stags

The Auckland Aces endured another difficult day at the office after the Central Stags posted a massive first innings total.

The Stags resumed the day 379/4, Will Young (162) and Tom Bruce (84) continued to pile on the runs passing the 400 mark in quick time.

Jamie Brown (2-82) ended Young’s long stay at the crease trapping the Stags Captain Lbw.

Glenn Phillips (2-116) dismissed Bruce to expose the Stags tail.

Stuart Meaker (1-98) snared his first wicket in Aces colors to the delight of his teammates.

The Stags eventually finishing their innings with a massive 524, leaving the Aces with a mountain to climb.

The Aces reply got off to the worst possible start, losing Captain Michael Guptill-Bunce in the first over.

Sean Solia (13) followed soon after to leave the Aces in trouble at 27/2.

Jeet Raval (20) and Robbie O’Donnell (41) steadied the ship for Aces making it to lunch with no further damage.

Raval and O’Donnell fell shortly after lunch bringing Glenn Phillips (40*) and debutant Finn Allen (20) to the crease.

The pair putting on 52 for the fifth wicket, Allen falling just before stumps, the Aces finishing the day 144/5.
