As the days slowly get longer and the summer of cricket comes into focus, the excitement builds for yet another season. In late September and early October, thirteen young cricketers will tour Brisbane and take on Queensland’s U18 Girls team.

The Auckland Girl’s Development team will play two 50-over matches as well as three T20s during the week-long stay.

Hearts Head Coach Nick White will be joined by Anna Peterson and Victoria Lind. White was understandably impressed by the depth of talent in Auckland on the back of successful U15 / U18 Girl’s and U21 Women’s National Tournaments last summer.

“We are constantly looking to present opportunities for our talented young female cricketers to continue to challenge themselves, both on and off the field.”

Peterson, who has coached many members of this squad before, cannot wait to see how this group develops.

“We’ve worked hard over the last few years building a solid base of young cricketers and we’re now lucky enough to send a team on tour. We have a great mix of experience and some players with great potential for the future.”

The squad will be fundraising for the tour and will be hosting a Quiz Night on Saturday 31st August, 7pm, at the Dalmatian Club on New North Road. Tickets can be purchased from any of the squad members.
