Auckland A finished top-of-the-table in the Michael Hussey Cup – the T20 Quin Series currently being played in Sydney.
This tournament features A-sides and development teams from the Sydney Sixers, Sydney Thunder, Hobart Hurricanes and Lahore Qalanders.
Yesterday the rain was the winner, washing out every match. Auckland A was set to play the Sydney Thunder.
With all matches abandoned, Auckland finished the round-robin with five points. The Qalanders also finished with five points but were behind on net run rate.
This means that Auckland A get a rest today as they qualify straight into the final. The Qalanders will face the Thunder, with the winner facing Auckland A.
On Tuesday Auckland A played Lahore. Auckland won the toss and elected to bowl first, and managed to restrict the Qalanders to 111. Matt McEwan starred with the ball, picking up 5-25.
Brian Barnard top-scored in the chase, hitting 24 from 11 balls, and McEwan finished off the total with 21 from 16. Auckland A clinched the win by four wickets with more than two overs to spare.
