HEARTS suffer second defeat at Pukekura Park

The Auckland HEARTS have suffered a second defeat against the Central Hinds at Pukekura Park to start the 2020/21 HBJ Shield season.

Batting first, Yaz Kareem and Saachi Shahri were patient to start before the Hinds bowlers got on top. The HEARTS slipped to 30/6, with Claudia Green (2-19) and Monique Rees (3-15) again on the money for the Hinds.

Skye Bowden and Roz McNeill fought valiantly to get a seventh-wicket partnership going. Bowden (27) drove beautifully down the ground and through the covers, while McNeill (18) used her feet to access the offside. The pair put on 45 before Georgia Atkinson took the first of her two wickets.

The HEARTS were eventually bowled out for 86 in the 36th over.

Hinds opener Jess Watkin (68*) then powered her side to a 10-wicket victory in double-quick time.
