Guptill back for ACES: HEARTS unchanged

Guptill back for ACES: HEARTS unchanged

Team Auckland head to Christchurch to take on the Kings and Magicians at Hagley Oval on Monday.

BLACKCAPS batsman Martin Guptill returns from the finger injury he suffered in the final T20 against Pakistan to join the ACES for Round Five.

Both sides will hope for better fortunes with the weather after the HEARTS last match against the Magicians was abandoned after 1.4 overs and the ACES lost to the Kings in a five-over affair.

It won’t be an easy task for Team Auckland, with the Kings and Magicians fired up for their first matches under lights at Hagley Oval over the next two days.

The Canterbury sides have made an unbeaten start to this year’s Super Smash and Team Auckland are determined to spoil the party.

After four matches, HEARTS allrounder Arlene Kelly leads the competition with seven wickets, including back-to-back career-best performances against the Sparks (3-26) and Hinds (4-28).

The ACES will look to last summer’s campaign for inspiration, again heading into Round Five without a victory. The third-placed HEARTS, on the other hand, hope to reestablish their position in the playoff picture as the round-robin nears the half-way point.

Both matches will be streamed on Spark Sport and live on TVNZ Duke.
