Planning and preparation is underway at Hearts Headquarters for another stellar summer. Head Coach Nick White will call on experience with a familiar squad ready to challenge for silverware in 2019/20.
Two new faces have been rewarded for outstanding club and representative performances last summer.
Youngster Fran Jonas collected 30 scalps in 16 matches for Cornwall and was equally impressive for Auckland U15s. The left-arm orthodox spinner welcomes the opportunity to learn from Auckland’s domestic and international talent.
‘I’m really excited to be included in the squad and I am grateful to be given the opportunity to learn and be involved with the Hearts.’
Howick Pakuranga’s Natasha van Tilburg also had a season to remember leading the club batting charts with 646 runs at an average of 46.14. However, this isn’t van Tilburg’s first taste of the Hearts’ environment. In the past month, the 21-year old was invited to National Camps in Lincoln and looks forward to what the summer might bring.
‘It’s great to be back in the squad with such awesome girls. Working with a bunch of different coaches and players (at the National Camps) has been awesome and it has given me a taste of what it would be like if I were to keep working hard.’
The Hearts also welcome a pair of new faces to the coaching group; Former Aces’ wicketkeeper batsman Brad Cachopa joins the team as the Assistant Coach and Josh Stewart takes over as the Strength and Conditioning Coach.
There are eleven weeks until the Hearts tour Hobart for four T20s in October to kickstart a big summer for the Hearts squad of 2019/20:
Natasha van Tilburg
Nick White (Head Coach)
Brad Cachopa (Assistant Coach)
Emma Komocki (Physiotherapist)
Josh Stewart (Strength and Conditioning Coach)
