Vanilla BriefClub Cricket

Hearts player Natalie Scripps bowed out of Cricket but unfortunately could’t do it with a win as a Cornwall inspired Katie Perkins took out the Womens T20 title with a 5 wicket victory.

Cornwall won the toss and sent Central West in to bat. Victoria Fahey opened the bowling and created great pressure, securing a couple of top order wickets. Georgia Guy picked up from where Vic left off, tying up the batsmen well and Central West had Losi Harford to thank for their final total of 102/6 off 20 overs. Harford top scored with 36 before she was finally dismissed by opening bowler Rosie Cox in the final overs .

Knowing their score was perhaps a little under par Central West knew they had to fire up early in the field and fire up they did. Cornwall were quickly reduced to 14/3 with  Sarah Hopkins and Maddy Green back in the hutch. Mellisa Taylor started the game with two maiden overs and Scripps looking to finish her career with a win was excellent, bowling 4 overs for only 9 runs and picking up two wickets. Unfortunately for Central West the Hearts player they didnt get out was Katie Perkins and assisted by Blackstick Katie Glynn who came in and got a under run a ball 22 she saw Cornwall home by 5 wickets with an over to spare. Perkins finished on 49 not out and lifted the trophy for a jubilant Cornwall side.
