Pearl Dawson Trophy | Finals Day

This Sunday, Takapuna host Pearl Dawson Trophy Finals Day at Onewa Domain.

Takapuna (7-3) snuck straight into the T20 Final last weekend and now await the winner of the Preliminary Final between Howick Pakuranga and Cornwall, starting at 11 AM.

Howick Pakuranga (7-3) narrowly missed out on their own direct entry into the Final after a two-run defeat in Round Ten. The Llamas will take on a strong Cornwall (5-5) side, who have had several young players step up through the campaign.

For Takapuna, it has been another impressive campaign and the Ponies will look to lock away the first Premier Women’s silverware for 2020/21.

Ahead of Sunday’s final, Ponies’ allrounder Roz McNeill said Takapuna have a well-balanced team.

“There is a nice balance between youth and experienced players, where each week different players contribute.

“Our team environment allows everyone to add value on and off the field.”

McNeill said the side was excited to play at the club, after playing most of their home games in recent years at Hobsonville Domain.

“Having the opportunity to play at Onewa Domain brings about a sense of pride in how we play and represent the club.

“Seeing a good crowd come down would be a fantastic way to showcase the development of the women’s game.”

The final will be live-streamed from 3 PM.
