Hearts move to the top with a 7 wicket win
Auckland Hearts vs Central Hinds
After yesterday’s fantastic chase, the Hearts entered the final day of the Lincoln round of the Burger King Super Smash on a high.
Maddy Green again won the toss and put the Hinds into bat. That decision was quickly justified as the Hearts reduced the Hinds to 28/6 inside 10 overs. The Hearts bowlers were bowling to their plans superbly and were ably backed by their fielders, Regina Lili’i in particular taking two outstanding catches. The tail wagged slightly for the Hinds and they were able to get to the end of their 20 overs, reaching 91 for the loss of 8 wickets. The wickets were shared amongst the bowlers with Bella Armstrong (3/18 off 4 overs), Holly Huddleston (2/7 off 4 overs), and Roz McNeill (2/12 off 4 overs) the pick of the figures.
In response, the Hearts lost Anna Peterson early which brought Sara McGlashan to the crease and she showed her positive intent from ball one. She hit 10 fours and 1 six in her unbeaten knock of 62 off 39 balls to chase down the target in the 14th over with the side only three wickets down. See the full scorecard here.
This concluded a successful three win, one loss, and one rained out round of games down in Lincoln and it leaves the Hearts tied at the top of the table with the Canterbury Magicians and Wellington Blaze. Their next T20 fixture is the first half of the doubleheader with the Aces on Christmas Eve at the Eden Park Outer Oval against the Wellington Blaze at 12:45pm.
