Cornwall’s Premier Women have added the Twenty20 title to go with the Prichard Cup they won earlier in the season. Cornwall is now in a position to aim for a rare clean sweep of the Women’s Premier Competitions.

In the T20 decider Cornwall batted first against Takapuna and set a solid total playing away from home at Onewa Domain. Their total of 133/8 was built by solid scores from Auckland Heart Maddy Green with 31 and Liz Perry who anchored things with 48 not out. The Auckland Hearts combination of Lauren Down and Lulu Matthews did the most damage for Takapuna with the ball as they each claimed 2 wickets each to help stop Cornwall running away with things. Down with 2/23 and Matthews with 2/27.

Responding Takapuna were in trouble early as their top three all lost their wickets for modest scores. That left a rescue effort to the middle order who after the early wickets were always fighting an uphill battle. Kerry Tomlinson offered hope to Takapuna but Cornwall’s bowlers simply kept making breakthroughs and pegged the North Shore team down. Maddy Green backing up her effort with the bat with 3 wickets. Green claimed match figures of 3/17 from her 4 overs. Fellow Auckland Heart Georgia Guy was also in the wicket mix picking up 2/17. Promising youngster Bella Armstrong also chiming in with 2/24.
