It’s an exciting time for Cole Briggs, wicketkeeper-batsman from East Coast Bays, who receives his first call-up to the ACES squad.
After three days in lockdown, it was a pleasant surprise for Briggs being named to take on the Stags this morning.
“Finding out this morning that I would get the opportunity to represent Auckland is pretty special.
“It is something that I have been striving towards and to do it alongside three of four very close mates makes it even better.”
Briggs said he is most looking forward to getting into the contest.
“I know it’s a level up and they’ll come pretty hard, but I’m looking forward to getting stuck in”.
Both the fifth-placed ACES and the Stags, currently in sixth, are desperate for two wins as the race for the top-three is set to heat up.
With Mark Chapman, Martin Guptill, Kyle Jamieson and Glenn Phillips all on BLACKCAPS duty and Lockie Ferguson continuing to work his way back to full fitness, the ACES get a look into the future.
With Auckland in COVID-19 Alert Level Two, crowds are not permitted at either of this week’s matches.
