ACES set for Plunket Shield push

With the Ford Trophy locked away in the cabinet, the Auckland ACES switch their focus to the remaining six Plunket Shield matches, starting tomorrow against Canterbury at Kennards Hire Community Oval.

There is plenty of cricket left to play for the ACES, who currently sit atop the Plunket Shield table, determined this summer by points per game.

Wins against Northern Districts (at home) and the Otago Volts (away), before five straight Ford Trophy wins makes for a confident ACES side ahead of the run home.

Interim Head Coach Luke Ronchi joins the side for the remainder of the summer; this top-of-the-table clash is Ronchi’s first game in charge of the ACES.

“It’s a great opportunity for me to get some experience in a head coaching role and further grow my skills,” Ronchi said.

“I’m looking forward to the chance to get in and work with the guys, some I know through my time with the BLACKCAPS and some I’m sure I will get to know.”

All matches will be played behind closed doors under the Red Phase of the Protection Framework.
