Lockie leads Aces to victory
A superb morning session from the Auckland Aces has ensured they claimed victory against the Otago Volts in the Round Three of the Plunket Shield at Eden Park Outer Oval.
Day four started with the Aces requiring four wickets, the Volts 181 runs for victory.
Matt McEwan and Lockie Fergsuon opened the bowling on day four and they were the only two bowlers required for the home side in a clinical morning of cricket.
Ferguson struck with his very first delivery removing a potentially dangerous Derrick de Boorder before McEwan came to party with the wicket of Mark Craig caught at short mid-wicket.
The tail was cleaned up by Ferguson inside the first hour, the Auckland speedster finishing with match figures of 12-78.
The win is the Aces first in their Plunket Shield campaign, a confidence booster before heading to Hamilton next to take on Northern Districts.
