Drink it in! Aces top Ford Trophy charts ahead of semis
Auckland Aces leg spinner Tarun Nethula will head into The Ford Trophy playoffs as the leading wicket-taker from the regular season.
Nethula has taken 15 wickets from seven matches at an average of 22.46, including the season’s only List A five-wicket bag.
He sits ahead of Northern Districts veteran paceman Brent Arnel with 13 wickets from seven matches at 21.46.
Central Stags rising star Blair Tickner also has 13 wickets from seven matches at 25.84.
Looking at the batsmen and it’s bitter-sweet for the Aces with Mark Chapman leading the charts.
Chapman scored 433 runs from seven matches at an average of 86.60, including two centuries and two half centuries.
He will now hope he can continue that form with his selection in the BLACKCAPS for the remainder of the T20 Tri-Series.
Northern Districts’ Daryl Mitchell is in second spot with 341 runs at 68.20 from seven games while Central Stags opener George Worker is on 311 runs from six games.
ND’s Nick Kelly is just one run further back on 310 from seven games after his century last week.
With the Aces taking on the Stags this Saturday in a 1 vs 2 semi-final there’s sure to be fireworks with both bat and ball if the season’s stats are anything to go by.
